Facing Tariffs Together: A Message from Target Sports USA

In recent months, our industry and customers have been challenged by economic uncertainty, policy changes, and global supply chain shifts. At Target Sports USA, we believe in communicating openly with our community. That’s why we want to help you understand what’s happening behind the scenes, how it’s affecting our prices, and most importantly, how it impacts you.

The Tariffs: What They Are and Why They Matter

Over the past 100 days, the U.S. government has implemented new tariffs on imported goods, including many materials and components used in ammunition production. These tariffs act as additional taxes on foreign-made goods, and while the intent is to support domestic manufacturing, the result, at least in the short term, is a sharp rise in costs.

We recently received a tariff bill totaling $62,000—an amount that directly hits our bottom line. And this isn’t an isolated case. Across the board, we’re seeing increased costs on components like primers, brass casings, powder, and even packaging—many of which are sourced internationally.

How This Affects Our Pricing and Our Customers

We’ve always been proud of our ability to offer competitive prices and reliable service. However, the economic effects of these tariffs are real. When the cost of goods increases, the impact inevitably trickles down to pricing. While we strive to absorb as much of this burden as possible, some of these costs must be passed along to maintain our operations.

This reduced affordability affects buying decisions across the country. When demand drops, so does our buying power with suppliers, making it even harder to negotiate bulk rates or keep inventory levels high. It’s a challenging cycle, and we want to be transparent about how it affects us and our customers.

Our Values Haven’t Changed

Despite these pressures, one thing remains constant: our commitment to our customers. Even during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when market panic and supply shortages were at their worst, we never raised prices unfairly or took advantage of the situation. Price gouging was never part of our business model and never will be.

Our customers are the heart of our business. Your trust means everything to us. That’s why we go to great lengths to keep our prices as low as possible, maintain high inventory standards, and ensure fast, reliable shipping—even when the landscape around us is uncertain.

The Reality of Ammunition Manufacturing

Many customers have asked: “Why not just source everything from the U.S.?”

We hear you. We, too, would love to offer products made entirely in America. But the reality is that a majority of ammunition, regardless of brand, relies on a global network of suppliers. Whether it’s European-made primers or Asian-sourced metals, most ammo today contains at least some foreign-made components. As a result, it’s simply not feasible to build everything domestically without dramatically raising prices.

We remain hopeful that the U.S. manufacturing base will grow, but until then, we must work within the structure of the current global supply chain.

Looking Ahead: Our Commitment to You

We want you to know that we’re doing everything possible to navigate this challenging period with integrity, transparency, and efficiency. You can count on us to:

  • Communicate openly about pricing changes and their causes
  • Avoid opportunistic pricing—always
  • Advocate for you in our negotiations with suppliers
  • Maintain quality and service, no matter what

We’re in this together. And as we move forward, we’ll continue to keep you informed every step of the way.

Thank you for your loyalty, your understanding, and your continued trust in Target Sports USA.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
